Park City, UT (DATE) – Park City Bike Demos, in collaboration with Felt Bicycles, SRAM, Thomson, Reynolds Cycling, RockShox, Continental, and Lizard Skins, announces the first-ever demo program for Felt Racing Development (FRD) mountain bikes. Felt FRD represents the pinnacle of performance in the cycling industry with some of the lightest, stiffest, and most-technically-advanced bikes available.
Conceived so cyclists can get real-world experience with Felt Racing Development’s groundbreaking bikes, Park City Bike Demos offers a superior experience that combines top-notch service, strong use of technology to ensure excellent customer experience, and access to a world-class trail system. A fleet of 27 mountain bikes will be available so riders can take the bikes out on the trail and experience the FRD difference for themselves. They are also offering mail order demos with free shipping for potential customers, not in the area.
“Felt Racing Development (FRD) was created by Jim Felt to build working versions of the peak of what’s possible with carbon fiber and other cycling-specific technologies that the consumer can purchase,” said Michael White, Senior Marketing and Communications Manager at Felt Bicycles. “We’re ecstatic that through this partnership with Park City Bike Demos that consumers can have the chance to try some of these incredible bikes, and Park City is one of the best places in the country to do that.”
The program is built around the the Decree FRD and Virtue FRD mountain bike frames (MSRPs of $3999 and $4499 respectively). Complete bikes are well-priced with a MAP of $7999 for a top spec bike spec’d with Reynolds Cycling Black Label™ carbon wheels and (MSRP $2600) and SRAM’s XO1 Eagle™ 12-speed groupset. A less expensive version of the bike will be available with GX Eagle and aluminum wheels for $5999.
Other bikes by Felt in their FRD program include the Felt TA FRD, the world’s fastest and most-advanced bicycle for velodrome racing; the Felt IA FRD which is the fastest time trial bike produced; the Felt AR FRD that has become the gold standard that aero road bikes are measured against in the wind tunnel, the FX FRD which recently won the cyclocross world championship, and more.
Felt’s FRD bikes use an exclusive UHC Ultimate carbon fiber with Textreme™ that allows for over 200 grams of weight savings over their production Textreme™ carbon frames that are already among the lightest options on the market, while enhancing stiffness. FRD level bikes have a layup process that often requires over a dozen hours of assembly per unit. As a result, Felt is known as a leader in carbon fiber in the cycling industry. Felt was recently acquired by the Rossignol group that has its U.S. headquarters in Park City.
Park City Bike Demos chose to implement this program with these particular Felt frames because they believe they are the ultimate all-around bikes for the wide variety of terrain in Park City and the Wasatch Mountains that is hugely varied that lends to bikes with strong downhill capability. But most importantly, riders have to pedal and climb to reach much of the best, high-altitude riding.
“We’re extremely pleased to be able to work with Felt and our other partners to develop program for FRD mountain bikes,” said Andre Shoumatoff, President at Park City Bike Demos. “These bikes exemplify do-it-all trail bikes that tackle anything we’re able to throw at them. They’re further accented by the a package of some of best components in the industry in a final product that you can truly feel. I personally am on our prototype for the program and the end result is 100%, utterly spectacular.”
“These 29er and 27.5” models have become some of our best sellers,” continued Shoumatoff. “A quarter of our staff now personally ride the Felt Decree or Virtue models as their personal do-it-all trail bikes for Park City’s terrain. The bikes rip downhill but are extremely light, playful, and efficient. They are capable of hanging in an enduro race but it’s also no problem to hammer out a 50+ mile day. One of our staff members even raced the Point 2 Point race on a Felt Decree 3 last year, despite its long travel. The only modification we made over the factory build was to add carbon wheels from Reynolds Cycling. We’re absolutely ecstatic to be able to develop this special program to present these incredible bikes so our clients can have the same excellent experiences we’re able to have.”
